Diagnosis in the bay

A light on the dash tells you something's wrong. It doesn't tell you what. We diagnose before we quote — find the actual cause, explain it in plain words, and give you a firm number for the fix. No guessing, no parts-cannon.

What it costs

Diagnosis quoted up front

You know the diagnostic cost before we plug anything in, and the repair gets its own firm quote you approve separately.

Bring it in for
Check-engine light
Steady or flashing — flashing means come in now.
Warning lights
ABS, traction, battery, temperature — each one has a real cause.
Won't start / stalls
Cranks but won't fire, dies at lights, intermittent no-starts.
Pre-purchase inspection
Buying used? We'll look it over before you commit.
Why diagnosis first matters

A code points at a system, not a part. Shops that skip diagnosis replace parts until the light goes off — on your bill. We find the cause first, so you pay for one fix, once.

What drivers say
Great diagnosticians and this can make a lot of difference to the time a job takes. My Mercedes had died and the CAA couldn't see the problem so took it to QLT. In no time at all the virtually unheard of issue was identified.
Mike Oh · Google review, 15-year customer
I felt immediately like I was going to be treated with professional courtesy and respect. Thank you Quality Lube & Tires for your thorough inspection of a potential car purchase!
Pamela Shelton · Google review, pre-purchase inspection
Probably the first mechanic I've experienced in my life where I feel at ease and in good, trusting hands.

Diagnostic questions, answered
Can I keep driving with the light on?

Steady light: get it checked soon. Flashing light: no — that usually means active misfire and real damage. Call us.

Can't you just clear the code?

We can, but it comes back if the cause is still there. We'd rather find it and tell you if the fix can wait.

The parts store read my code free. Why pay?

A code read tells you the system. Diagnosis tells you the part. One is a hint, the other is an answer.

Do you do pre-purchase inspections?

Yes. Bring the car (or send the seller) and we'll go through it before you hand over money.
